Getting Started With Badges for Learning

Light burst logo for webcastBadge programs have captured a lot of interest in postsecondary education in recent months, with every indication of growing bigger. Will you be ready to respond when your campus leader turns to you and says, "We want to do something with badges. You're in charge."?  This session will take a look at some of the things you should consider about launching a badge program, and will consider how badges for learning are likely to alter the higher education and training landscape.

Join WCET for a webcast on these two unique applications and their impact on learning. Presenters include John Bower, CEO at uBoost, an award winning, online rewards, and recognition platform and Anne Derryberry, who recently completed a fellowship at the Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri School of Journalism and is a blogger, designer, and consultant on digital badge systems and game-based learning.

RESOURCES:

  • View the webcast archive.
  • View the PowerPoint slides.
  • See the White Paper on Intrinsic vs. Extrinsic Value.
  • Review the Responses to Open Questions.

Both are engaging experts on the topics and will cover the following:

  • Game-based learning and badging basics.
  • Applications in higher education and online learning.
  • Innovative uses of game-based learning and badging in education.
  • What to consider when implementing a game-based or badging program.
