Web and Videoconferencing Solutions for Online Distance Education

Skype, Collaborate, Connect, ConferenceMe, WebEx? As educational institutions continue to mature in their use of online learning systems, there is a growing need for synchronous methods of communication with distance students. This presentation will discuss many of the student and faculty needs and wants from distance education, and several of the different technologies available to fulfill those needs. The focus will be on videoconferencing and webconferencing solutions in fully distance and mixed-format classes.

This presentation also will cover the review process just completed by the University of Utah and the Utah Education Network in its selection of a new webconferencing solution, including the functional capabilities set forth in the selection process, the specific needs of the College of Nursing, and some of the technical challenges experienced. Through the interactive chat, we would like to learn how your online program has incorporated webconferencing or other synchronous education delivery technologies, and the results that you have seen.
