Fraud and Beyond: Distance Education and New Financial Aid Rules

Light burst logo for webcast

In October 2011, the U.S. Department of Education issued a "Dear Colleague" letter advising institutions about "Fraud in Postsecondary distance Education Programs." When coupled with the 'program integrity' regulations that were released by the U.S. Department of Education in October 2010, the need for financial aid administrators, academic leadership, and the distance education professionals to work together has grown dramatically. This webcast will bring you up-to-speed on the recommendations to prevent fraud and a few other aid-related regulations so that your institution can plan effective strategies to address these issues. Regulations to be covered include:

  • Financial aid fraud.
  • Calculating 'last day of attendance' for distance students.
  • Determining when federal student aid must be returned for students who withdraw from modular coursework.

The free webcast will run for 60 minutes.

Registration for this February 1 webcast is closed.

9:00 AM HST / 10:00 AM Alaska ST / 11:00 AM PST / Noon MST / 1:00 PM CST / 2:00 PM EST.

An archive of the presentation will be available on this webpage by February 8.
