University of Illinois Online is a one-stop shop for information on programs and courses available online from the Urbana-Champaign, Chicago and Springfield campuses. The website provides detailed information on admission requirements, prerequisites, curriculum, and tuition for individual programs.


Established in the winter of 1997, the University of Illinois Online (U of I Online) is a university-wide initiative providing coordination and support to the three campuses of the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign, Chicago, and Springfield) in the area of online education.

The goal of the colleges and campuses of the University of Illinois is to increase the number of high-quality online education programs available to all prospective students in Illinois, the U.S. and around the world.


Currently the catalog contains detailed descriptions of over 1,200 online courses and over 120 completely online degree programs and certificates including:

  • 13 Bachelor's completion degree.
  • 37 Master's degrees.
  • 2 Doctoral degrees.
  • 64 Certificates.
  • 12 continuing Education programs.

Programs listed on the U of I Online website are:

The U of I Online website averages 20,000 visitors per month providing great recruitment potential for the online offerings of the three campuses. U of I Online staff also work directly with campus program coordinators to maintain the currency and accuracy of the online program content.
