This senior administrative position reports directly to the Vice President for Information Technology (VPIT) and as a member of the executive leadership of the VPIT, works closely with other directors in strategic planning, policy development, critical issue resolution, and decision-making. This position works with other senior staff across the institution to provide resolution to complex issues that may also result in new or amended policies which require engaging with legal counsel. The position also engages with legal counsel in regards to vendor agreements to ensure they are in the best interests of the University and abide by federal, state and local laws. This position is responsible for the institution's central administrative IT systems, including the Banner Student Information System; the Oracle Human Resources System; the Kuali Financial System; the Kuali Research Management System; the enterprise operational data store (ODS) and data warehouse; central university databases; and a variety of other IT administrative systems that are enterprise in their scope and impact. This position works directly with the directors and other leaders in the functional departments jointly responsible for those systems to provide to the campus high quality, cost-effective, and secure IT services, and to promote an expanded emphasis on technology-based services. With the adoption of an Administrative Data Governance and Architecture Policy, this position is also the Chief Data Officer of the University.
Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related area; plus minimum 10 years working experience in an enterprise-level information technology unit supporting enterprise level business systems in a higher education environment. Knowledge of current IT systems technologies and their applications in higher education; a record of leadership in a complex information technology environment; successful supervisory and team building experiences; a record of initiatives in project development including demonstrated project management experience; successful experience working in a collaborative and collegial environment; strong analytical and decision-making skills; superior interpersonal and communication skills; experience with consortium-based collaborations; and experience in IT strategic planning, budgeting, and decision-making.
