This position requires an individual with knowledge of state, federal, and international compliance associated with distance learning. It is well suited to an individual with a legal background and a deep knowledge of higher education. A preferred candidate should have experience in researching current and pending legislation and rules that related to state, federal, and international regulations for higher education and distance learning and preparing resource materials for a broad range of academic stakeholders, including students, faculty, student support personnel, administrators, and other higher education institutions.
The Extended Learning Compliance Specialist reports to the Executive Director and is a member of the Extended Learning Management Team. This position works in collaboration with Legal Counsel, Registrar (both Main Campus and HSC), Admissions, Global Education Office, Financial Aid, Compliance, Office of Equal Opportunity, Export Control, IT Security, IT Academic Technologies, Branch Campus Chief Academic Officers, Associate Deans, Career Services, Accessibility Resources Center, Veteran’s Resource Center, and academic units across campus who offer online programs and experiential learning placements outside of the state of New Mexico, providing compliance related resources throughout UNM’s academic community. The Compliance Specialist also works with external organizations such the New Mexico Higher Education Department, other state agencies and higher education departments, ministries of education, state licensure boards, and the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA).
- Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
