Job Description

The Executive Director of Educational Technology Support and Operations is responsible for providing leadership for the support and operations of educational technology at the College. This includes leading the Educational Technology statewide support team, supporting the College’s distance education efforts and IvyOnline, and providing leadership for professional development efforts related to educational technology and distance education. The position also oversees and provides leadership for the educational technology support staff at a specific set of campuses as well as for several statewide positions. The Executive Director will support and provide leadership for special projects related to educational technology, distance education, and flexible delivery methods as needed. This position is part of the Provost Office\Academic Affairs.


  • Provides leadership for the statewide Educational Technology team and statewide educational technology initiatives and projects.
  • Supports IvyOnline in matters such as the identification, implementation, and support for educational technology as directed by the Assistant Vice President, Educational Technology.
  • Works collaboratively with the Executive Director for Instructional Design Services and Faculty Leads to identify and advance initiatives to improve student learning, completion, and retention.
  • Works collaboratively with various stakeholders to build and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers related to the work of the statewide Educational Technology team and IvyOnline.
  • Provides leadership for the statewide support for educational technology including the College’s Learning Management System at all levels.
  • Provides leadership for statewide training and professional development efforts in educational technology and distance education for students, faculty and staff in conjunction with IvyOnline.
  • Provides leadership and supervision for Educational Technology Coordinators at assigned campuses.  
  • Responsible for ensuring support for campus leadership needs by appropriate Educational Technology staff.
  • Provides leadership at all assigned campuses for matters related to distance education, educational technology, and IvyOnline and ensures implementation at the campus level as needed.
  • Responsible for Tier 3 helpdesk support for educational technology for students, faculty and staff as needed.
  • Provides leadership for the quality assurance of educational technology offerings; conducts studies and provides reports documenting the operations and effectiveness of educational technology.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology or Design, Education, Information Technology\Computer Science, Higher Education, Adult Learning or related fields required.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in educational technology sufficient to make informed decisions about educational technology required.  A minimum of three years of supervisory experience required.  Experience with budget planning preferred.  Experience with higher education preferred.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with various digital learning platforms such as learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, etc.), publisher platforms (Pearson’s MyLabs\Mastering, McGraw-Hill Connect, Cengage MindTap, etc.), and other platforms required.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with technology-based communications such as email, instant messaging (Slack, Teams, Hangouts), synchronous collaboration tools (GoToMeeting, Zoom) required.
  • Must have excellent oral, written and technology-based communication skills and excellent customer service skills.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects required.
  • Must have willingness and ability to travel as needed to support assigned campuses and the statewide Educational Technology team.
