Job Description

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks an experienced, innovative, and strategic servant leader as Chief Transformation Officer (CTO). Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff & Senior Vice President of Strategy (SVP), and as a member of the President's Cabinet, the CTO will lead enterprise change and transformation, enable the delivery of business outcomes, and act as a trusted advisor to the SVP. This executive sets the course and executes a student-serving multifaceted business transformation strategy for one of the largest online, state universities operating on a global stage.

The CTO is charged with driving and choreographing the transformation roadmap that harnesses organizational change and drives new growth. She/he/they lead a brand of continuous strategy ideation, development, and execution that genuinely drives an organization to greatness. The CTO establishes and maintains excellent working relationships, which are essential to being successful in the role, across the UMGC community, vendor relationships, and other external stakeholders. The CTO must have an uncompromising reputation for honesty and integrity while balancing the need for transparency with discretion. A spirit of collegiality, camaraderie, and collaboration are also of significant importance in this highly-visible position created to produce extraordinary and sustainable results.

Functions reporting into this role include but are not limited to: enterprise architecture; enterprise program management office (ePMO) including project portfolio management; IT and security; design assurance; change management, as well as innovation and implementation both digital and otherwise.

Minimum Qualifications

Required education & experience: An earned Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning; at least 10 years of senior-level leadership experience in the non-traditional, higher education space; track record of achieving extraordinary results by executing comprehensive, highly-disciplined methodologies that orchestrate transformation; well-versed in business process and technology change management; strategic vendor management expertise; demonstrated evidence of delivering digital change management as well as continuous improvement and extraordinatory business outcomes; proficiency driving transformation roadmaps to full-execution; an influencer and synergy-creator that inspires candid and practical feedback; practiced at gaining the buy-in necessary for change management excellence; well-developed project management skills; a thinker and proactive problem-solver; and success with proposing projects or systems for efficacy and continuous improvement. She/he/they must have a history of servant leadership and be an excellent team player/coach, willing and able to develop these qualities in her/his/their direct reports.
