Gloria Niles is the director of distance education for the University of Hawai’i-West O’ahu. In this role, she manages the Office of Distance Learning, which is charged with the oversight of all facets of online instruction. Gloria collaborates with administrators, faculty, and instructional designers across the ten campuses within the University of Hawai’i System to facilitate effective support services and articulated online programs for distance education students across the Hawaiian islands. Additionally, Gloria has improved the quality of online teaching and learning by implementing a Distance Learning Tactical Plan that works in alliance with the university’s strategic plan. She holds both a Doctor of Chiropractic degree with post-doctoral training in Neurology and a Ph.D. in Special Education Leadership and continues to demonstrate her expertise and passion for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion for neurodiverse learners in higher education, particularly in the online environment.
