Faculty Success

Great teachers are great teachers regardless of the type of classroom, in the cloud or on the ground. But teaching for the love of teaching and inspiring students in their own journey of learning has to compete with other priorities, such as training on new technologies, understanding accessibility requirements, redesigning courses to take advantage of open educational resources. WCET works with its members to share effective practices and policies that encourage faculty success. Another dimension of WCET’s faculty success agenda relates to the growth in part-time teaching faculty, often called adjunct or contingent faculty. How do institutions recruit, retain, and engage quality part-time faculty? Additionally, WCET is interested in the question of if and how faculty are changing their teaching roles and their communications strategies with today’s millennial students. Is there a digital divide between faculty and students?
